On this tour you get to experience the most scenic route on any of our tours, along with learning about the incredible history of the herring town Siglufjordur.

We drive from Akureyri and stop in all the small villages and towns on the west coast of Eyjafjordur. We continue our trip to Siglufjordur by driving through 3 tunnels. Between Ólafsfjordur and Siglufjordur is a beautiful deserted fjord called Héðinsfjordur. In Siglufjordur we will visit the Icelandic Herring Museum that has spectacular shows about the former herring industry of Iceland. At the marina you will find Hannes Boy Café and Raudka, which are restaurants and coffee houses. From there you can sometimes see the sailors from the small boats bring in the catch of the day. Hannes Boy Café is named after a late sailor from Siglufjordur who frequented the marina and was very popular in town.
